I grew up on a dairy farm near Stratford where I experienced an early childhood education that was immersed in nature. My earliest memories are of running and rolling down hills, climbing trees and exploring areas of native bush, ponds, streams and swamps. Through these experiences I learnt to use my imagination and be creative, to think and solve problems, and to observe and wonder at the smallest miracles in nature and, as a result, I grew in responsibility, confidence, resilience and independence. I am therefore delighted and honoured to be working alongside my colleagues Jan and Tanya and to have an opportunity to offer similar early childhood experiences to young children in the New Plymouth area.
I am a Director and part owner of The Redwoods Country Kindergarten. I live with my husband Garry and am passionate about teaching young children, sustainable gardening and practices, playing golf and generally being outside.
