Tena koutou katoa – greetings to you all
My name is Bridget and I love being part of our special teaching team here at Redwoods Kindergarten! I’ve lived in Taranaki for a long time now with my son, his big half sister, and more recently my wonderful partner and his two children. I ventured to Taranaki from the Thames/Coromandel area, where my life began out in the simplicity of the countryside. I am fortunate and grateful for the freelance nature play I had access to as a child, and I believe this shapes much of my teaching philosophy today as I am a strong advocate for all the benefits that a free play, nature immersed environment offers our tamariki. Over the last 10 or so years that I have been teaching, my philosophy has developed and I have learned to categorise myself as a heart based Kaiako who embraces and values the beauty of difference in each individual tamaiti and their whanau - learning to love, laugh, and not sweat the small stuff along the way! I’m all about validating tamariki, helping them find their voice, valuing struggle, letting them take risks, find their own way, barefeet, trees, mud, laughter and big fat awhiawhi!
